Thurston Moore and Henry Rollins at McNally Jackson, NYC

If you haven't been keeping up with Henry Rollins recently, he's been traveling around the world documenting the people he meets with a backpack full of camera equipment.  He recently spoke about his trips and how he got started with photography and his music career, with Thurston Moore acting as host.  This was recorded at McNally Jackson Bookshop in lower Manhattan:

Yusef Lateef - Live at Whole Foods (NYC)

How strange is the music business getting? Now Whole Foods is hosting musical events?Anyway, thanks to our friend Andy Schwartz, check this out:

This weekend, as part of something called the "Gibson/Baldwin Jazz Festival" (as in Gibson Guitars and Baldwin Pianos), multi-instrumental jazz great Yusef Lateef will appear at the Whole Foods store on East Houston Street @ Bowery.

Beginning at 2:00pm, Dr. Lateef will be signing copies of his new book, The Gentle Giant: The Autobiography of Yusef Lateef. At 3:00pm, trumpeter Ted Curson and the Spirit of Life Ensemble will perform with Yusef as their special guest.

The Gibson/Baldwin Jazz Festival is free and open to the public.

On Oct. 9, 2007, Yusef Lateef celebrated his 87th birthday. See:
